At Thompson House EC we are totally inclusive! Everybody, regardless of any disability is welcome. For a number of years now Chris Ainscough and his team have been providing carriage driving lessons for those with additional needs.
With our experienced ponies and carriages that can easily accommodate wheelchairs we have provided hundreds of people with hours of fun and laughter.
Chris and the team are experienced working with people with Autism, learning difficulties and physical disabilities, whether it is serious training for competition driving or to simply experience a lot of fun, we can tailor our sessions to suit your needs.
We can offer individual lessons or group sessions for schools and activity groups.
There are a number of benefits to coming carriage riding:
• Learning a new skill
• Improving confidence
• Communications Skills
• Motor Skills
• Or simply the benefits of letting your hair down and enjoying some fresh air and possibly a touch of speed for the dare devils amongst you!
For parents, carers and siblings we have a cafe overlooking the indoor arena, there’s also a disabled toilet and a hygiene room.
Subject to funding, the individual and group sessions can be partly subsidised by the charity ‘Sports Driving Unlimited’. Please contact us for further information.
We remain extremely grateful for the support ‘Sports Driving Unlimited’ provide for us to continue these activities.
